The beginning

Many people think I am an information expert when they know the department where I teach. It does not mean I am good at using information technology.  

The true information expert is the person who can use a simple tool very well and creatively. Or the person can integrate these tools into his or her professional field and make it fun.   

Although I have had only one time of face-to-face class, I have found Professor Yuen is exactly the expert I describe above. Many people know the tools of Web 2.0, but it is not easy to master them. It is no surprising that “blogfolio”, entered as a key word on Google, shows a lot of results, all related to Professor Yuen. Therefore, if the blog is used as an entertainment, Professor Yuen is so called a professional entertainment expert.    

As a result, I can expect I will gain a lot in the application the technology and information to the professional fields after taking this course. In addition, my English will improve a lot since the teacher and Jeffrey offer many opportunities to use English in class. I believe all of the students will cherish the chance, enjoy the class, and learn a lot.  


許多人一聽到我任教的系所單位，就以為我是資訊達人，雖然我有一點資訊方面的能力，懂一點如何撰寫程式，如何建立使用資料庫，但那並不代表我就是個擅用資訊的人。


而真正的資訊達人，應該是能將一個簡單的資訊工具的功能發揮到淋漓盡緻，能用到別人都想不到的地方，或是懂得如何在有限的環境下整合應用到自己的專業領域或興趣，就像是一個美術家，能擺脫在畫布上做畫的傳統思維，把他的畫畫到沙裡、畫到地上、畫到車上、畫到人體上以及其它地方。


雖然到目前為止只上過一次面授的課，但可以發現Prof Yuen 就像是我所描述的這樣子的資訊達人。web 2.0的Tools很多人都知道，但要做到精熟也不是一兩天就可以做到的，如果你用Google輸入關鍵字像是 「Blogfolio」，你將會驚訝到處都可以看見他的教學推展成果，如果我們把做Blog當做是玩樂，那Prof Yuen就可以說是所謂的玩家。


可以預期在修完這門課後，對於應用這些科技到專業領域一定會更有心得。不僅是這樣，因為班上還有一位外籍的同學，加上老師也會部份用英文授課，因此對於語文的提昇也將會是這門課另一個無形的收獲，希望我們大家都能好好珍惜這次的機會，都能有如期的心得與收獲。
